Soljari FAQ

How to split a bill, handle several payers, work across currencies and record a settle-up. If your question is not here, get in touch.

Soljari helps you share expenses with your friends. Create a group and invite your friends to join, or add an expense that does not belong to any group. After adding an expense, settle it with your friends using the "Settle Up" button.

Yes. When you split an expense you can choose Equal, Unequal or Percentage. A percentage split lets you assign each person a share such as 40% and 60%, and Soljari works out the amounts.

Create a group containing everyone involved, then select that group when you add an expense. Every member is added at once and you can divide the cost equally or unequally between them.

Add the expense and mark more than one person as a payer, entering what each of them actually paid. Soljari reconciles the payments against each person's share and works out who ends up owing whom.

People who paid nothing can be left at zero. They still take a share of the cost.

Pick your currency when you register, or change it later from your profile page. If the currency you need is not in the list, contact support and we will add it.

Anyone on an expense, or in the group it belongs to, can view it — but only the person who created it can change it. This is deliberate: a balance you agreed to should not move without you knowing.

If something is wrong, comment on the expense. The person who created it will see the comment and can correct it.

Uploads are limited to 2 MB and must complete within 30 seconds. If an image or PDF will not upload, try again on a better connection. If the problem persists, email support@soljari.com and we will help.

Soljari records settlements, it does not move money. Pay your friend however you normally would, then log it: use "You Pay", pick the friend, and enter the amount.

When somebody pays you, use "You Got" instead. Either way the balance between you updates and the payment stays in your history.

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and we audit our systems and practices regularly. Authentication tokens are stored in the device keychain on iOS and in encrypted storage on Android rather than in plain preferences.

No system is completely foolproof, but we have taken every reasonable precaution and we treat the security of your data as part of the product rather than an afterthought.

Yes. Splitting expenses, groups, multi-currency balances, settle-ups and reports are all free to use on the web app and on Android and iOS.
